Authorities reported that an individual carrying weapons forcefully moved through a gathering at the Canfield Fair, pushing aside several attendees, as he attempted to reach Ohio gubernatorial hopeful Amy Acton before law enforcement intervened.
The state highway patrol stated that the man, identified as Havas, pushed numerous fair attendees aside in his effort to reach Dr. Acton. He was found to be carrying a taser and two handguns. Dr. Acton sustained no injuries during the event.
Havas was initially handed over to Canfield Fair Police, then transferred to the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, and subsequently taken to the county jail. Jail records indicate he is being held in pretrial custody, facing charges of two counts of assault and one count of disorderly conduct.
Both the highway patrol and the sheriff’s office are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the confrontation. No further details were immediately released.

Acton’s campaign initially issued a statement, describing the incident as an armed individual lunging at the candidate and causing injuries to several people.
“While attending the Canfield Fair, an armed individual lunged at Dr. Acton, injuring multiple people,” said Addie Bullock, communications director for Acton’s campaign. “Dr. Acton and Eric are grateful for the swift and decisive action of law enforcement and are praying for the recovery of those injured. This kind of violence has no place in Ohio. Dr. Acton will always stand up to the chaos, hate and vitriol that pits us against one another.”
Ohio Governor Mike DeWine later confirmed that Dr. Acton was unharmed and mentioned that he and First Lady Fran DeWine had spoken with her following the incident.
“Fran and I are thankful Dr. Amy Acton was not hurt, and we send our thoughts to those who were injured,” Governor DeWine stated. “We spoke to Dr. Acton this afternoon and she said to share with Ohioans that she is ok.”
