Country music sensation Nate Smith has undergone a significant transformation, shedding over 70 pounds and revitalizing his health and stage presence. The artist revealed that his previous struggles with breathlessness during everyday tasks have now become a thing of the past thanks to his dedicated weight loss journey.
A New Chapter in Health and Performance
During an appearance at the Sports Illustrated and Tight End University's Tight Ends & Friends Concert in Nashville last month, the "Bulletproof" singer shared his updated health objective: to weigh less than 200 pounds, specifically targeting 185 pounds. He noted that he previously weighed around 275 pounds.
Smith emphasized that his primary motivation for adopting a healthier lifestyle is to deliver his best performances for his audience.
"Keeping the energy on stage and making sure I do that, because I think that takes care of the fans," Smith stated, adding, "I just feel better. It's nice to be able to wear clothes that I like."He highlighted his current red carpet attire, noting,
"This is a large. I've been double X for the last five or six years, so I'm feeling really good."
Setting New Targets and Embracing Change
The "World on Fire" musician detailed the numerous positive changes he has experienced.
"I don't sweat anymore, which is amazing," Smith remarked. He recalled a time when even simple actions like tying his shoes would leave him winded.
"I used to be totally out of breath tying my shoes," he said, also noting, "I can jump around a lot more."
Overcoming Challenges and Celebrating Progress
Smith's health overhaul began in 2024 following a medical incident that prompted him to address issues such as excessive eating and drinking. Within just a few months, he had already lost nearly 50 pounds simply by reducing his daily calorie intake.
Despite his progress, Smith acknowledged ongoing challenges.
"I still struggle with some binge eating," he admitted. "And if I want to have it, I'm going to have it."He explained his approach:
"But I want to find a way to make it a treat versus a lifestyle thing. If I decide I'm going to have mac and cheese, it's okay."Reflecting on his journey, he concluded,
"I'm not even close to my goal. But I'm way happier where I'm at, and I feel like better about the way I look."
