Vice President Vance Affirms US Dominance in Iran Negotiations, Cites Achieved "Core Mission"
Vice President JD Vance asserts the United States holds a strategic advantage in Middle East negotiations, declaring the Trump administration has already met its primary objective regarding Iran.

The United States currently possesses a significant advantage in the Middle East negotiations, Vice President JD Vance stated in a recent interview. He contended that the Trump administration has already accomplished its fundamental goal concerning Iran, irrespective of the outcome of the critical discussions underway in Doha.
"We have all the cards in the negotiation," Vance remarked.
"We obviously want it to be successful, but even if it's not successful, we've accomplished the core mission, which is to ensure that the Iranians never have a nuclear weapon," he explained. "In other words, it's a win-win outcome for the American people."
Two Paths to a Favorable Outcome
The Vice President outlined that successful negotiations would result in Iran undergoing a "permanent transformation"—shedding its nuclear ambitions and ceasing its financial support for proxy groups that have destabilized the broader Middle East. Under such conditions, Vance suggested, Iran could be "welcomed back into the world economy."
"That's a great outcome for the American people. It's a greater outcome for the whole region," Vance commented.
"But if, on the other hand, the Iranians don't behave, if they don't make the concessions in the negotiations that we need to see, their nuclear program is still destroyed, their conventional military is still destroyed and the United States is still in a much stronger position relative to the Iranians."
Context of Ongoing Discussions
Vance's statements come as U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Qatar this week for discussions with mediators. However, reports indicate that a high-level meeting between Washington and Tehran is not anticipated.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari informed reporters on Tuesday that, to his knowledge, "There are no direct meetings scheduled between the two parties in the coming days."
Earlier in the week, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt indicated that Iran had initiated the request for talks. Other members of the Trump administration, including President Donald Trump himself, have made similar assertions.
