Four visitors to Six Flags Over Georgia required hospital treatment after a substantial tree fell close to the park's main entrance during severe weather conditions on Sunday.
In a statement, park management confirmed that "The guests were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation," though specific details about their identities or current conditions have not been released.
The incident coincided with a severe thunderstorm warning issued by the National Weather Service for the broader metro Atlanta region as powerful storms traversed the area Sunday evening.
Eyewitness accounts and social media posts provided a glimpse into the chaotic scene following the incident. A video widely shared on Facebook depicted numerous emergency vehicles, including fire trucks and ambulances, gathered at the park's entrance. First responders were visible amidst several fallen trees and large branches.
The individual who shared the video described what began as "a relaxing day at Six Flags" abruptly interrupted by the storm, noting the tree struck near the exit walkway as patrons were departing the park. The user also expressed well wishes, writing, "Prayers for the people that were hurt."
Potential Impact on Park Attractions
Further online discussions, particularly on Reddit, suggested that a large fallen tree might have extended over a portion of the park, with some users indicating it came to rest on the track of the Mindbender roller coaster.
One user commented on the observation, stating, "It didn’t look like the track was bent. But it was a thick tree, so I couldn’t tell if anything was broken."
As of now, Six Flags has not issued confirmation regarding any damage to its attractions or whether park operations have been affected by the incident.
